From 1st January 2006 the foundation ?Stichting Childrens home Sri Lanka? has a business bank account in its own name with a number that is easier to remember!
A new home has crossed our path, of which we had heard already and which we of course had gone looking for. It is a home with 105 mentally handicapped girls. There are also 3 boys, who were there from the beginning and who are likely to stay, as we have been told.
December 2005 - The Mayura Children?s home at Matugama, the ?Boys home?
Things are going well at the Boys home in Matugama, in the fist house that we built and opened in May 2005. The children are being cared for very well, also thanks to your support. This visit we had taken 4 Skippy balls with us and the kids showed their well rehearsed dances, made for a contest for handicapped children.

Yes, everyone is talking about it, even the charity organizations who participated in the joint bank account 555....but who did too little with that money...
At the end of November Aruna and Milly will go to Sri Lanka again. Aside of family visits, Milly will of course visit the boys? home. She will go and have a look at what remained of all the input of Loes and Femke and of their knowledge is still being used on the daily care for the children. Loes and Femke have been there fro some weeks as trainees. They have shared their knowledge with the staff in the home and the teachers in the school. See also the update on this on the diary site. Loes and Femke taught about autism and how best to care for children who have some level of autism. They had a great time in the children?s home at Matugama, or ?Boys home? for easy reference. Hopefully they will write a small report about their experiences.
19 July 2005 - Dirk van Eijk enthusiastic about the home and the children
Dirk and I (Milly) have already had regular contact by phone or sms. Dirk happens to be on holiday in Sri Lanka. His sms messages and his phone calls speak volumes, he is very enthusiastic.
